CMRLS Advisory Committees
Charges 2007
Advisory Committees help shape the direction for CMRLS. Staff from all types of libraries meet to provide advice to the Executive Board. Their input builds the annual Plan of Service and influences the budget. In forming committees, CMRLS aims for diversity in library type and size.
Committees meet quarterly or less frequently, often at CMRLS HQ. Members are appointed for two years.
ILL and Delivery
The charge of the ILL/Delivery committee is to:
- Advise CMRLS on issues related to providing ILL and delivery services to members.
- Recommend changes to ILL policies.
- Recommend changes to Delivery policies.
- Provide input on written criteria to help with the modification and implementation of delivery schedule changes.
- Assess the ongoing impact of III, Masscat and the Virtual Catalog on ILL and Delivery.
- Consider recommendations of statewide delivery committee and incorporate change as indicated.
Reference and Databases
The charge of the Reference and Databases committee is to:
- Advise CMRLS on issues related to the delivery of reference services to member libraries.
- Advise CMRLS on reference service through CMRLS’ contract with Worcester Public Library.
- Recommend changes to reference policies.
- Advise CMRLS on database acquisitions and assessment of member library database use.
Continuing Education/Advisory and Technical Assistance
The charge of the Continuing Education/Advisory and Technical Assistance committee is to:
- Advise CMRLS about continuing education topics of interest to member libraries.
- Recommend policy changes to CMRLS Executive Board.
- Advise CMRLS staff on issues related to providing consultant services to member libraries.
Youth Services
The charge of the Youth Services committee is to:
- Advise CMRLS on issues related to serving children and youth in our member libraries.
- Advise CMRLS about continuing education needs, on topics of interest to children’s, young adult, and school librarians.
- Provide input into the annual Plan of Service related to serving youth in our member libraries.
- Make recommendations on future Summer Reading Program themes and materials.
