About MassCat
CMRLS member libraries are
eligible to become members of MassCat. The MassCat system is
a single, union catalog of the holdings of member libraries
that are not generally affiliated with one of the existing
automated networks.
This catalog is used to identify and
support the sharing of library resources between libraries
in MassCat and libraries statewide. It will ultimately become
part of the
Virtual Library Catalog of the Massachusetts
Board of Library Commissioners.
The goals of the MassCat system
are:
- To provide access to bibliographic holdings of member libraries for interlibrary loan and reference.
- To provide libraries with efficient access to a source of high-quality bibliographic records for MARC conversion.
- To provide compatible connections for access to the Massachusetts
Statewide Virtual Catalog and ILL System.
