Guidelines for the CMRLS Discussion List

The Central Massachusetts Regional Library System mailing list was established to provide a communications forum for members of CMRLS. CMRLS member library staff and supporters are invited to subscribe in order to raise issues of common concern, learn about breaking CMRLS news, and receive information important to Regional participation. Library staff from all Massachusetts libraries, including those from non-Regional member libraries, are encouraged to exchange ideas, post questions or vacancies, announce surplus items for sale, or to use the mailing lists for other library-related purposes deemed of interest to all or to a number of specific CMRLS member libraries and staff.

Messages dealing with issues specific to one library or region should not be cross- posted to the lists of other regional library systems. Commercial announcements and advertisements are not permitted, except those of a professional development or continuing education nature. In an effort to ensure that the CMRLS list meets subscribers expectations, CMRLS reserves the right to make judgments and to refuse messages that do not meet the guidelines of the CMRLS list.

CMRLS will automatically subscribe member library directors to the mailing list as new CMRLS membership applications are approved. A welcome message will be sent that will include instructions on how to unsubscribe if desired.
